Can you give me some GOOD reasons why I should vote for you? Peter Alley for LYNE: - Independent Thinking, Labor Values For the last 5 years, the seat of Lyne has been represented by Rob Oakeshott. Rob has been an outstanding member and a strong advocate for this community. In his actions, he has revealed that he cares about jobs in our area and in the businesses that provide those jobs. Rob has worked hard to establish and expand university campuses in our electorate. Rob has been a strong advocate and supported Labor Government programs that benefit our entire community such as the National Disability Insurance Scheme, the National Broadband Network and the National Plan for School Education. Rob Oakeshott has demonstrated what can be achieved when a strong local member works with a Labor Government that believes in investing in regional Australia. I am the Labor Candidate for Lyne because I believe that we all deserve the best opportunities - in education, health, jobs and in business. I believe that the role of Government is to provide the infrastructure and the services that we need to achieve this. I believe in a strong economy and I believe that those in regional Australia should not be treated as second class citizens. Labor Governments are the best at achieving these goals. This community needs a representative for our entire community, not just one who works for sectional interests. This community needs an advocate who will stand up for children, families, workers, the disabled and the elderly. This community needs a believer who actually believes in creating educational and business opportunities and who believes in a strong public health system. This community needs a strong voice, capable of identifying opportunities that will create jobs, improve our industries and improve educational outcomes in this region. Tony Abbott and the opposition candidate for Lyne have indicated that they do not believe that our schools should be properly funded. The coalition’s “fraudband” plan shows that they are not committed to fast industrial strength internet services being available for this community. They do not believe in investing in regional Australia. They are committed to undoing much of the work that Rob Oakeshott and this Labor Government have done. Many of you will have voted for Rob Oakeshott because he stood up for this community and because his values aligned with your values. Have a look at my values. I value this community where my family is being raised and where I give my time my time to my church and to the SES.
