Can you remember exactly what you were doing 14 years ago today? I can. I had the day off from my job as Activities Assistant at the Frontier, so when I woke up I drove to Safeway and bought an orange juice and box of 2 pregnancy tests, then I went to Keris apartment at Bridgegate and took the biggest yet easiest test of my life (twice). As I laid on her couch slowly but surely those two tests turned positive. My life has never been the same. Thats the day that I fell in love with Alexia, even though she made me sicker than a dog, and met Morena who has turned out to be like a sister to me. That is the day that changed my life. Who knows where I would be if it werent for Alexia. Definitely not here. My life would have taken a very different path without her and probably not for the better. Agustin was doing illegal alien work, picking fruit in The Dalles. He didnt call me very often so it was a few days after I found out that I told him. If you know Agustin, then you know he didnt have much of a reaction. Just a few short days after that phone call immigration did a sweep where he was working and his ass was deported. Had I not told him that I was pregnant that day he called I am pretty sure that he wouldnt have come back, at least not right away. Less than a year later we had a new baby and were married. 14 long years later here we are, still married with 3 kids. How we manage to put up with each other for all this time is beyond me because we are both very far from perfect. Oh, and dont worry, he isnt breaking the law anymore by being here illegally, so dont bother calling immigration, I may or may not have already tried that 😜
