OK. I cant hold it in anymore. All of my FB friends are truly considered friends. Some are my church family or friends from a time gone by. Many are former and current students or professional acquaintances. Some are white, some are black. A few are Indian or Hispanic or Asian. Some believe in God and some do not. Some pray in the name of Jesus; some do not. I believe deep down that all my friends want what is best for the country in which we live and for all the issues that make up American culture. We share a complex heritage and apparently, an even more complex present. Our future is yet to be determined. For these reasons I ask for all of my friends to do us all a favor ..... Please stop posting statuses and video links trying to convince me to believe that all black people are thugs and criminals. Yes, there are some criminals who are black. I know that already, but I know the truth that the vast majority are not. Please stop posting statuses and video links trying to convince me to believe that all white people are privileged supremacists who want nothing but to keep black people in a particular place. I know that to be false, even though I know that some may be so narrow-minded as to seek that goal. I ask for my friends to surely take a stand and share their passion. But, I hope they stand for all humanity, and I pray (to my God) that they will stop inciting division and use our common intellect to work toward a shared consensus of what truly being human means. I have no pictures, quotes, or videos to include to pique your emotions ..... just these few words and this one request. Before you post so I (and others) can see it - consider your intent. What are you trying to depict? Who are you seeking to inspire or incite? Is what you post intended to build up or to tear down? Thanks if you have read this far in my post. I feel better now. May the Spirit of Our Great Creator somehow bring us all back toward one another. There is our best place.
