Canadians have measurable levels of lead, mercury and cadmium in our bodies. This comes from exposure to lead paint, air and water pollution and soil pollution that contaminates foods. Health Canada has not set a safe limit for cadmium while exposure to lead and mercury is above recommended levels for 1% of Canadians, especially those occupationally exposed people who live or work close to mines and industrial areas. statcan.gc.ca/pub/82-003-x/2008004/article/6500822-eng.pdf
