Cant... The word cant has always been one of the most disliked words by me. So often I hear people use it when they truly have no idea whether or not they CAN do something. Believe me, Ive spent over a decade telling myself that I cant. Ive spent most every day the past 6 months proving to myself that I can and do. Exercising is no easy feat. It is tiring, time consuming, and downright a huge physical AND mental effort. I spend every single day thinking about food. What will I eat, what do I want to eat, should I stop by fast food on the way home after a hard day at work. I also spend a fair amount of time thinking about my exercise planned for when I get home from a long hard day at work. Im tired, my muscles/body/hair hurts, I dont feel like it. All of these thoughts fly through the vast expanse of my mind every single minute. The list goes on and on. Suffice to say, I remind myself every day of my vow to myself to transform my life. I CANT and WONT ever go back to the lifestyle of inactivity and not regulating the fuel that I put into my body. Everyday, I convince myself that I CAN and WILL do whatever it takes to prevent myself from going backwards to that not-so-happy time in my life. My weight is on a downward trend while my happiness and quality of life is on the up-and-up. That is what I want! I decided to change up my exercise routine as I feel that Ive stalled. Last weeks 0 gain/loss really bugged me. So, Im making alterations to my exercise routine and dietary fulfillment. New exercise plan is 7 days a week. Every single day I will dedicate at least 1 hour of exercise. Saturday is usually my household chores day - grocery shopping, laundry, etc. Exercise may be just walking around a bunch and cleaning the cat box (ewww!)!!! Sunday, after the Seahawks beat down whoever they play for the week, Ill be making a trip to the local community center to play some racquetball. I went last week and had an absolute blast running around the court for an hour. Monday/Wednesday/Friday are my new boxing bag, treadmill, and free weights day. This is an increase from two to three times a week. I absolutely love the boxing bag and my hands/knuckles are slowly getting used to the pounding. Tuesday/Thursday are going to be my swim days. I will probably be transitioning from a small pool to a much larger lap pool (25+ meters) which I hope will increase my stamina and exertion. This will decrease my swim days from three to two a week, but I may ramp this up again as it gets warmer. As for dietary changes, Im going to cut back on the cheese products a bit and integrate more vegetables into the routine. I got some great ideas from my nutritionist on healthy salad dressing, so I will give that a whirl. Enjoy the rest of your week folks! Get that Christmas shopping done early!
