Cant beat the spoonbill types roaming wetlands next to my office - TopicsExpress

Cant beat the spoonbill types roaming wetlands next to my office today. My office is bordered by disturbed freshwater marshes, some sandhill and oak scrub and stormwater ponds. It takes just a minute and Ive escaped....by taking just 25-40 steps.Today, a Roseate Spoonbill is preening under colorful cypress, red maple and red bay. Beautiful creature indeed! It opens its wings and I swear Im seeing angels wings. And, down across the tiny foot bridge, a glossy ibis is feeding. Its dark, shadowy winter coloration, chocolate brown stands in stark contrast to two nearby snowy egrets. This ibis is the light-footed relative to the spoonbill. Its bill is sickle-shaped and can still feel for food, probably eating crayfish. Lastly, a yellow marsh bloomer still needing identifed, possibly St. Johns wort. It covers the mucky forest floor. So ends another mid-day escape!
