Canton, Texas — Serenity Horse Haven will be at the Purina Days event being held at the Canton Tractor Supply Company, 401 East Hwy 243, Canton, Texas 75103-2423 on Saturday, May 31, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Come join them, meet some of their rescue horses, and learn more about how Serenity Horse Haven is helping starved and abused horses. Serenity Horse Haven is a non-profit tax exempt 501(c)3 horse rescue and sanctuary just south of Canton, Texas. Serenity Horse Haven was founded in 2010 and works with Texas Sheriff’s Departments; Texas DPS; SPCA of East Texas, and the Canton Veterinary Clinic to rescue and care for critically neglected and abused horses. Serenity Horse Haven operates purely on private donations and is operated on a 100% volunteer basis, no salaries or compensation is paid to our Board Members, staff, or volunteers. We maintain an average of about 90 to 95% of all donations go directly to the horses. The rest goes to administrative cost. We don’t have fancy facilities, just horses that need loving care and attention. We try to maintain no more than 10 rescue horses at a time, but how do you turn away a horse that has been seized due to being starved, neglected, or abused. We have had as many as 29 at one time. Serenity Horse Haven (SHH) is dedicated to making a difference in the lives of neglected and abused horses by providing medical care, rehabilitation, and adoption services. We strive to provide the best care possible; matching these magnificent creatures with loving and caring families; educating the public about properly caring for horses; and advocating for the humane treatment of horses.
