Cape Town - Why don’t you come up with better non-lethal solutions?. With the eyes of the world on Cape Towns reign as World Design Capital for 2014, one would have expected this modern city to be more original in designing a solution to it’s wildlife interface between humans and the last remaining 500 Chachma baboons on the city’s iconic mountain ranges. But unfortunately not so. Wildlife and conservation authorities have again chosen to rather kill the ‘problem animals’ than spend some ‘design time’ to come up with a new and innovative non-lethal solution.
