Capilano River/coastal water fishing Today we fished first on Cap River for about 2 hrs from first light in search of big Coho as well as early giant Spring that have been possibly trickling in due to higher water level from the rain. The fish are biting aggressively but we’re not lucky enough to catch anything to keep. My buddy Roy got his first 3 Cap Coho hits within the first half hour but unfortunately lost all of them for some reason including one just broke off before our eyes. I got 2 hits and landed, then released as they’re Pink and trout. We moved on to the west coast for some more salt water coarse fishing. The fishing is fantastic and we’re so surprised to find that the large schools of black sea bass we encountered last Saturday are still hanging around. According to my research these guys come from the south and only show up somewhere in George strait couple weeks a year but are rarely seen along the Vancouver coast. They’re so aggressive that they would hit my lures as soon as the jigs sank to the middle water striking zone. They’re also good fighters that can put up really big fight no less than Pink salmon. Nice weather, good fishing – what more can we ask for?
