Capital Development Authority (CDA) and Turkey International Cooperation and Development Agency (TIKA) inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) whereby Turkey International Cooperation and Development Agency (TIKA) concurred to operate and maintain four (04) water filtration plants of the Capital city. The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed by Mr. Maroof Afzal, Chairman Capital Development Authority (CDA) and Mehmet Samil EMIN, Country Coordinator, Turkey International Cooperation and Development Agency (TIKA) at CDA Headquarters on Monday. All Board Members of CDA and higher ups of TIKA were also present on the occasion. As per Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), Turkey International Cooperation and Development Agency (TIKA) will operate and maintain the water filtration plants located at F-6/1, G-7/3, G-10/2 and G11/3 areas of Islamabad and will bear entire operational and maintenance cost of these plants. Turkey International Cooperation and Development Agency (TIKA) will conduct cleanliness, drainage and maintenance of hygienic conditions at the water filtration plants. Turkey International Cooperation and Development Agency (TIKA) will conduct Periodic Water Quality tests of water on monthly basis and will share report with Capital Development Authority. All accessories, fittings and allied items will be maintained by Turkey International Cooperation and Development Agency (TIKA) along with record keeping of all activities and ready availability of log book. Well trained staff will also be deputed on the plants. Turkey International Cooperation and Development Agency (TIKA) will conduct this entire exercise through a private firm and will keep watch on management and maintenance practices of the firm as well. The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) is the testimony of ever increasing close ties between Pakistan and Turkey and through subject Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), Capital Development Authority (CDA) and Turkey International Cooperation and Development Agency (TIKA) further agreed to explore even more avenues of cooperation between the two brotherly countries regarding municipal services and urban development. Both the parties further agreed to establish permanent liaison. Capital Development Authority has installed thirty seven (37) water filtration plants in different areas of the Capital city. Each filtration plant has capacity of 1000 gallons per hour.
