Capitalism is already what most people brainwashed by consumerism think socialism is. The average person thinks socialism would take their earnings through hard work and redistribute it back to the people who have it easy but it seems they fail to realize thats exactly whats already happening on a much larger scale with capitalism. The worst part of this to me is the fact that we often speak against capitalism yet are forced to support its systems to some extent in order to survive and stay relevant in society, so we cant even start to change it yet. One of the hardest parts of it for me to stomach is that the system of slavery they abolished has been replaced by an entirely legal and more lucrative system of oppression through our prison industrial complex. We imprison those who lash out after a lifetime of systematic abuse and society thanks us for it. We basically still have segregated communities and plenty of ghettos where the entire infrastructure and education system is left to rot by their local government, who then acts like the poor people who live in that ghetto somehow are at fault for not funding what is supposed to be a state school. White people get all offended when you bring up racism and act like they should be left alone because its in the past or not their fault and thats when you know that theyre actually just ignorant and incapable of critical thinking. To many of my internet friends this is going to be old news and not even interesting. Im not contributing anything new to the discussion really but I decided to post this because I know a lot of young people across the country who are unaware of these things and its important to talk about.
