Capri and I had a fun adventure today with Mary K Krauss, Linnea Webster, and Connie Hoge. It was a day of meetings and advenures. I had the pleasure of meeting Mary Ks beautiful mare Indy and now I really understand why Mary K calls Capri and Indy the twins. Indy is lovely, and didnt even retaliate when Capri unexpectedly kicked her...oops. I also finally got to really meet Connie for the first time! And Im in awe...of both her and Farah. And I was right-- I DO like her style! :) So adventures: I rode Capri to the Watershed for our Girls Only day, the first time Ive ridden Capri by herself in quite a long time. I was expecting a few heart-stopping spooks, but had to settle for drunken-pony inability to walk/trot in a straight line. Darn. Indys got her first real time back out on the trail in quite a long time and she was amazing. She pranced along for about 10 miles and was the picture of excellence. We rode through the Redmond Watershed and the Tuscany loop. Mary K said goodbye to us, and Linnea, Connie, and I crossed Novelty Hill Rd. to frolic on the Redmond Ridge Trails. Capri gave me more than I bargained for here. Man, pony-girl can jump AND buck! She threw in several bucks throughout that 4 mile section. Capri is wonderful at teaching me to have an independent seat. Really. We ruled out any tack issue and discovered she is in heat, so kept going. The only other challenge we came across was a pack of several (around 7 or 8) dogs the owner/walker had off leash as we were looping back to cross back over Novelty Hill. They were quite yappy and disrespectful of the horses space. Capri was coiled, but gave no major reaction, thankfully. All in all, Capri and I traveled about 17.5 miles today on our ride. She finished calm and happy. She was quite snuggly when we got back to the barn, as she was eating her dinner. This is the kind of day I live for. I am refreshed. God is good. :)
