Captain and Mrs. Vicary would have been happy. The BCHRLF at the Vicary Mansion was alive with music and activity today for Beaver County History Weekend. We had music steadily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Our volunteers played cello, clarinet, violin, flute, piano, pump organ and an electric pump organ. There was an upbeat, festive mood in the mansion. Beside this, we had volunteers doing bobbin lace and hand quilting, plus others were cooking at the outdoor bake oven. The archive room was open, and there was a display regarding Native American Indians. We had visitors from all parts of Beaver County including Darlington, Wampum, Center Township, Freedom and Baden. We had several visitors from East Stroudsburg, Pa., who were in the county for a bowling tournament. A family who participated in geocache came back at 4:55 p.m. for a prize, and they not only stopped at all six geocache sites, but they took the time to visit each museum. If you were not able to visit us today, we are open Sunday, May 4 from noon to 4 p.m. Musicians from Tobin Studios in Ambridge will be playing acoustical guitar and mandolin from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. In between, there will be more flute and piano music. Come and check us out. We are your county historical society.
