Capturing Hopes Photography was started primarily to photograph - TopicsExpress

Capturing Hopes Photography was started primarily to photograph the journey of preemie babies that are in the NICU. However, as we began offering this free service for parents, more and more situations presented themselves where we were called upon to provide photography services to parents whose baby would not survive birth, had already passed away prior to birth or at birth, or would pass away shortly after birth. We have gladly been offering these services free of charge for families, day or night, knowing these will be the only professional photos that these parents will have, hence, the motivation behind what we do. WHY the need for professional photography for grieving parents? Some have asked us why anyone would want professional photos of a child that has died or will shortly pass away. Why not just use a cell phone or personal small camera to get a few pics of the baby, I mean, why bring in a professional at all? We believe there is a huge connection between the art of photography and the feeling of hope for families. From the perspective of a professional photographer, we can tell you that the type of photography we capture for parents doesnt focus on what is wrong with the baby or the ugliness that death can bring, but rather, we focus on the beauty and humanity of that child, the precious little fingers and toes, the inseparable love between that baby and their family, and every small detail of who that baby is. That is what we capture. While we encourage parents to get out their cell phones and cameras and snap as many photos as possible of their baby, we promise that what we view and capture through our lenses as professionals is something that families will never regret asking for or receiving as a gift. Those photos are truly priceless. If you have lost a baby, you know more than anyone else the importance of what those photos bring to families. Having said all that, and because of the need for more and more remembrance/bereavement photography in our particular area (Piedmont/Triad of North Carolina), Capturing Hopes is in the beginning process of forming a board that specifically focuses on the needs of this type of photography for families in our area. The board will be made up of mostly parents or family members who have gone through the loss of a baby and have a good understanding of the needs in this area for families. We would also welcome nurses or other medical staff that have worked with families in a bereavement situation. If you would be interested in considering being on this brand new Capturing Hopes board, please email Deneen at capturinghopesdirectors@gmail. The first initial getting to know you meeting will be a casual lunch or dinner at a local restaurant on Thursday, October 30th. Note: The board has not been formed yet, we are just in the first steps of this process. We look forward to hearing from you and hopefully being able to grow this service in our local area so that we can help more families as they journey through their grief process. To those families who have used our remembrance photography services, thank you for allowing us to be a small part of your babys life!
