Carbon : is the chemical element with symbol C and atomic number 6, it is found in IV group. This element is most important and building block element in the field of nanotechnology. Graphite :The graphite is an allotrope of carbon. It was named by Abraham Gottlob Werner in 1789 from the Ancient Greek word to draw/write, for its use in pencils, where it is commonly called lead. Graphite is an electrical conductor, a semi metal. It is, consequently, useful in such applications as arc lamp electrodes. Graphite is the most stable form of carbon under standard conditions. Diamond :- Diamond is a metastable allotrope of carbon, where the carbon atoms are arranged in a variation of the 3 Dimensional face-centered cubic crystal structure called a diamond lattice. Each carbon atom is bounded to four other carbon atoms in a pattern of tetrahedrons. CARBON NANOTUBES (CNTs) Carbon nanotubes are allotropes of carbon .Fullerenes are other form of carbon and they can be formed into continuous tubes to give very strong fibres of pipe like molecules called nanotubes. These nanotubes (sometimes called buckytubes) molecules-particles behave differently compared to bulk carbon materials like graphite and the much smaller fullerene molecules
