Carbon tax abolition prompts Ipswich fee reduction: 17 July, 2014 IPSWICH City Council will reduce fees at council-owned waste transfer stations following the abolition of the carbon tax. Mayor Paul Pisasale said a reduction of $2 from $10 to $8 would be introduced from August 1st 2014 and demonstrated an act of good faith by council to pass on savings to residents. “It is very difficult to know the level of savings across the full council budget until an audit can be made and we understand the impacts. “The review must also take into account the loss of some funding for other programs in the 2014-2015 financial year. “We will leave the option open for a possible refund in the future or offset the carbon tax saving against the 2015-2016 budget,” Cr Pisasale said.
