Carlo Ancelotti holds so many trump cards in his hand that it will be difficult to figure out which ones to play. Last year, the coach took some time to find the best system for his players, ending up opting for a 4-3-3. This formation gave him results, but he also changed to a 4-4-2 in the cup final when faced with the loss of Ronaldo. The arrival of James and Kroos will force the manager to go back to the drawing board again. The conundrum consists of finding a way to position his four superstars. In addition to the now legendary BBC, who produced so many goals and assists in the year of the Décima, he now has to find room for the World Cup Golden Boot winner. The club has paid €80 million including add- ons for him to delight the Bernabéu fans. This will be no easy task as things stand with a 4-3-3, unless one of the famous four plays further away from the box. Ancelotti already did this before with Di María, but it would not seem that any of these four players will be willing to play such a role. The option which the Real manager is left with is to go back to playing with two midfielders (which would mean leaving out Alonso, Modric or Kroos) and move all of his firepower up front by playing a line of three with Benzema as a centre forward.
