Carlyles Daughter Kathy and Tharon Judd Now serving at Fort Bluff Mission. The Newest Mission of the LDS church in South East Corner of Utah. There is 9 couples, mainly from Utah. They are all talented, most of the men are (almost) like Tharon. Assignments are made each day when they go to work. We spend 3 1/2 hours in the Co-op about 3 shifts a week. If not there (women )sisters are in the craft room sewing and quilting. Each morning we have prayer meeting and then are busy at least 8 hours. We are open 7 days a week but not the Co-op on Sunday. We have had visitors from France and Italy, they are amazed at what is here. Not a lot of people yet but it will happen. The descendants that have created this whole fort are in their 70s and 80s , there wont be anyone to cary it on so we are thankful to be here and know them. The are made of the same stuff that their ancestors were made of. Our apartment is working out good, just across the street from the fort. We dont use our cars much. Last friday we went to the Monticello Temple. A very pretty small building. Wonderful local people with a wonderful spirit. the branch doubled in size when the missionaries hit. They are very thankful for the help. Today we got our callings, about thirteen miles out on the reservation is a twig of the branch or that is what some people call it. Mainly native Americans. We are to be prepared to talk, teach a class, lead music, teach Primary on the spur of the moment. They never know who will show up. So we have our work cut out for us. they have a two hour block here both in the branch and the twin. Sacrament meeting and Sunday School or RS and Priesthood. After meetings we will go visiting on the reservation. I guess everyone now speaks english. Another couple has been called to go with us. this couple was raised here so will be a big help. He retired from BYU and their hope is in Springdell( Provo Canyon). The Elders are glad we are here too, now they have people to feed them. They are great missionaries. One is from West Jordan and the other from California. So few people know about this place and its story. The spirit is strong, those pioneers want their story told and the sacrifices they made. We hope you will be able to come down and experience this wonderful place.
