Carolyn Cosby does not pay property taxes here in Cherokee County yet she manages to find numerous ways to increase the taxes we all pay. Here are just a few of the ways Cosby has run up a tab that we have to pick up: 1. Ball Ground Recycling – When the owner/operator; Jimmy Bobo found himself unable to make the monthly payments on the bond debt, he reached out to a national company to see if they were interested to take over this operation. The county was in the middle of negotiations with this company (With a lucrative offer that would have left the county with a small deficit) when Cosby interfered and used this issue to escalate her own notoriety with her barrage of press releases and press conferences. Because of the negative press given to this operation, the national company withdrew their offer. The county has had other companies express interest but they have withdrawn as well. The economy has affected the value of this property, but the reason that it is now valued at a fire sale price is because of Carolyn Cosby. She has knowingly spread false information to confuse and anger people and she used those emotions to gain support for her, and the candidates she supported over the last few years. She has cost us all millions of dollars all to further her own agenda. 2. Open Records Requests – Ms. Cosby has a long list of requests that she has made to the county to obtain records that she did not pay for or pick up. Her requests took time away from county employees doing their everyday jobs to collect the information she requested and the county was never reimbursed for the time the employees spent. 3. Legal Costs – Cosby spent three weeks outside the county tax commissioner’s offices collecting signatures on her petitions. During that time the tax commissioner’s office spent their budget for the entire year to obtain legal advice due to the continued harassment to taxpayers that were not interested to sign her petition. The county elections office ran up another bill for legal advice due to Cosby’s threat to sue the county over her petitions.
