Casper David Friedrich. A Winter Landscape. in LOndon National Gallery If you look very closely you will see a cripple who has thrown away his crutches. He is leaning against a rock. before him is a cross in a tree. If you look in the background you will see a vision of a church . I am not religious, but Friedrich was. The church is the salvation for the cripple. will he have a miracle and walk or will he die and go to heaven. Its wide open for interpretation.
