Casual group (NOT JUST BEARS) of gay men that gets together monthly to hike trails around the SF Bay Area, generally on the Second Saturday of the month. Hikes are usually easy to moderate, 5 to 8 miles and 3 to 5 hours. Usually 20-30 guys attend monthly hikes. This is a social group; members are encouraged to host get togethers after hikes. Group members are welcome to post impromptu hikes and invite others to attend. Posts should be about hiking and the outdoors. Please post or share your photos to the group or event page (in public mode). The groups first hike was Jan. 2012. By March 2014 the group grew to 601 members. The Administrators are: Seth Adams Mike Douthit Typical Hike Info and Basics: DATE TITLE DESCRIPTION RECAP OF BASIC DETAILS HIKE DOGS: If the park allows them, youre welcome to bring them so long as theyre leashed or very well trained. BRING: lunch, liquids, sunscreen, shoes with good tread. Always bring water. We suggest at least a liter of water for every couple of hours of hiking. RAIN POLICY: Really heavy rain probably postpones or cancels - well let you know. Light to moderate and the show goes on--some of the best hiking happens under stormy skies. The difference between fun and not fun though is a good rain jacket. These events are usually meant to be a little more than just exercise and fresh air; theyre an opportunity to get to know other guys and build relationships. So, were looking for guys interested in hosting get togethers or BBQs at their houses afterwards.
