SATURDAY 10 January 2015 ~ SATURDAY AFTER EPIPHANY 1 John 5:14-21 (Jesus will hear us) Ps 149:1-6.9 (Praise His Name) John 3:22-30 “HE MUST INCREASE, BUT I MUST DECREASE” Today’s Gospel joins two occasions of Jesus’ life: EPIPHANY and BAPTISM. John the Baptizer becomes the link between these two ‘events.’ He clarifies his position about his relationship with Jesus by using the metaphor of bridegroom and his friend. While introducing Jesus as the bridegroom he adds another element of Epiphany: God’s involvement in human affairs. This passage also paves the way for Jesus’ ministry when we hear John say: “He must increase, but I must decrease.” In what way have I experienced Epiphany in my life?
