Catholic Mass Readings of The Day! Friday 17 October 2014 St Ignatius of Antioch, bishop, martyr (M) Eph 1:11-14 Psalm 33:1-2,4-5.12-13 Luke 12:1-7 Do Not Be Afraid “.....Why, even the hairs of your hear are all numbered. Fear not; you are of more value than many sparrows.” Jesus condemns the hypocrisy of the Pharisees, that is, their striving to appear before others to be perfect, but in fact, not being so. They, like their ancestors who had persecuted and killed the prophets, would do the same to Jesus, however, stays unfazed by their plans; we too, would do well not to be frightened of those who kill our mortal life but can do nothing more. For, most important, is to be rightly afraid of one who has power to judge and settle our eternal destiny. Jesus says this, not to intimidate anyone, rather, to make everyone to trust in God and strive to live in God’s presence. ~ Reflection of Holy Gospel according to Luke 12:1-7 youtu.be/vNBoX0fB8LU?list=PLGjM_R2dzPT3iEehXWamVbotgZqB3JzqG
