HI I am Liam I have lived with AIH (auto-immune hepatitis) since 1999 when i was 11 years old. Since then i have tried to live as much of a normal life as anyone but with hiccups along the way, such as, Breaking my back in 5 places in 2000 due to my medication. which resulted in a long stay in hospital until i had healed. then had other ups and downs for the next 11 years but manged to control my AIH. when i was 17 i did complete The great north run in 3 hours 14 mins 30 secs. despite everyone saying i couldnt do it including my family. and this time i plan to beat that time :). thats my goal anyway. then in late 2010 my liver wasnt doing so great, so my liver team decided to put me on the transplant list. but by the end of 2010 i had caught the flu which ended up speeding up me dying and the doctors had told my family i had months to live. but thankfully on the 24th jan 2011 a liver had became available that matched me after 3 attempts. all was good, manged to get a full time job and my own place so i could finally be independent :), i was so grateful i had been given a 2nd life. unfortunately at the begging of 2014 my new liver decided to give up (chronic liver failure) which is rare but can have one case a year etc. so i was told i had weeks to live this time, and was put on the list again. but i really wasnt optimistic as i know how long u can wait on a transplant list. but on the 1st of feb 2014 i was the luckiest person in the world and received another liver. which i am compleatly grateful for. and now i want to raise awareness for liver disease/ organ donation/ also that you can live a normal life after a transplant. this is a brief story of why i am doing this. if you know me then u will know the rest ;
