Ps 40:1&3A,6-7A,9,10 (Here I am Lord! I Come to do your will) Mark 3:31-35 BROTHER, SISTER, MOTHER Jesus speaks of his true family or family-members, while people apparently recognize only blood – relationships. To Jesus family-membership includes all who ‘do the will of God.’ Luke, too, expresses the same, albeit in different words. ‘Those who hear the Word of God and do it.” It is the new family, the family of the eschatological times that Jesus came to establish here on earth. In affirming this, we are not to understand that Jesus negates blood-relationships, rather, he merely lays stress on the fact that now, it is faith-relationship that counts.
