Cecelia Teresa Sayklay Jacob (1923 - 2014), of Tucson, AZ, passed with peace and grace on October 17, 2014 (the day of her 66th wedding anniversary) with her family at her side. Bishop Kicanas of the Catholic Diocese of Tucson administered last rites and renewed John & Cecelias wedding vows just prior to her passing. Survived by her husband John Edward and Children: Loretta Aileene (Norman Carlson), Cynthia Ann (Richard Morgan), Donald Gregory, Daniel Craig (Marion) of Tucson, Dianne Lorraine (Monte Moore) of Phoenix and John Edward II of Marina del Rey, CA. Grandchildren: Marc (Matthew), Jason (CiCi) Kevin (Shannon), Amber, Charlotte, Faye, Olivia & Graham. Born in El Paso, TX and moved to Tucson in 1948 with husband John. Cecelia gave tirelessly of herself as a devoted wife, mother and homemaker. Constantly affirmative, her standard response to any question was: Can do! always seeing the best in people and life. Cecelia was a faithful and steadfast servant of God, the Catholic Church and a student of Mysticism. She was deeply involved in the community through, The Kappa Delta Phi Sorority, Cursio, The Knights and Ladies of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulcher, Serra Club, The Ladies of St. Ambrose, Spectra Dynamics & Joy Group and the Tucson Garden Club. An enthusiastic life long student, she never lost her curiosity and thirst for knowledge and learning. She spoke, read and wrote Arabic, Spanish and English fluently. A Rosary followed by Funeral Mass will be held at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, 300 South Tucson Blvd, beginning at 10:00 AM, Monday, October 20, 2014. If you wish, donations may be made to the Benedictine Convent of Perpetual Adoration in Cecelias Name. A refined lady, she leaves us rich in memories and lifts us to higher ground through the example of her life.
