Celebrate America at Second Friday Event The next Second Friday Event on Friday, June 14 is themed Celebrate America in honor of Flag Day. A special feature for the evening entertainment is an appearance by The Lewis and Clark Fife and Drum Corps of St. Charles, Missouri. The performance at 7:00 PM, will be at the bandstand on the Monroe County Courthouse lawn. Bring your lawn chairs, wear your red, white and blue and join in the celebration! Downtown Waterloo businesses will remain open until 7:30 PM during Second Friday. Be sure to check out the red, white and blue specials at Bountiful Blossoms Floral and Gifts, 121 S. Main. Other participating merchants that will remain open Friday evening include: A World of Difference, Clark’s Country Oaks, Echoes of the Past Antiques, Mill Street Treasurers and Raccoon Hollow Fabrics. Before, during or after the Fife and Drum Corps performance grab a sub sandwich, soup or salad from Subliminal, located across the street from the bandstand at 141 S. Main. Their motto is “you know you want one!” Visit sulbliminalsubs for their menu. Other participating restaurants are Gallagher’s, J. Fires Market Street Bistro and JV’s Downtown Bar & Grill. The Discover Historic Waterloo committee is planning a series of Second Friday events to celebrate Waterloo and focus on our local history, businesses and community. This is the third of six events being planned April – September. The committee would like to thank our sponsors for bringing The Lewis and Clark Fife and Drum Corps to our community: Harrisonville Telephone Company, 1st National Bank of Waterloo, State Bank of Waterloo, Scott Credit Union and Midland States Bank. Volunteers from Peterstown Heritage Society will be selling custard from Crown Frozen Custard during the performance.
