Celina Radio Control Club to Hold 28th Annual Swap Meet CELINA, Oh.---(December 17, 2014) The Celina Flying Sportsmen Radio Control (RC) Club will continue a January tradition as they invite the public to the 28th Annual Swap Meet on January 4th, 2015, in the Celina Senior High School Gym from 8:A.M. to 1:00 P.M.. The swap meet is one of the largest in Western Ohio, with over 80 tables of merchandise for sale by vendors and individual RC modelers from across Ohio, Indiana and Michigan attend the meet and display their wares. Anyone who has ever wondered what RC was all about will find an incredible variety of radio controlled aircraft ranging in size from micro helicopters the size of a matchbook to giant scale models of 80 wingspan or more, powered by glow and gasoline motors and the newest electric motors. In addition, displays of RC boats and cars, as well as accessories will fill the gym. RC is a hobby for all ages from eight to eighty+. New breakthroughs in electronics make getting into the hobby more affordable than ever. It is possible to get started for less than $50 for a complete system, although the majority of introductory ready to fly outfits run from $150 to $250. Admission is $3.00 (children under 10 and women are admitted free). A refreshment stand will offer coffee, soft drinks, snacks and hot sandwiches to the public. The Celina Club invites the public to come and see the real story of RC models. The Celina Flying Sportsmen is a charter club of the Academy of Model Aviation, an international organization of over 140,000 members who commit to following extensive safety rules, and carry liability insurance through the AMA. A club safety officer insures safety rules are followed. During the summer months club members fly at the model airfield at Bungee Park west of Celina. Spectators are always welcome. Wednesday evenings, when weather permits, free training sessions are available for those who want to try the hobby. Club members also fly indoors year-around Wednesday and Friday mornings from 8:30 to 10:00 A.M. in the Family Life Center of St. John Lutheran Church in Celina. Spectators are welcome.
