Centerville Gas Leak Update: Vectren has located a broken flange - TopicsExpress

Centerville Gas Leak Update: Vectren has located a broken flange on a gas valve that caused the leak. The valve has been closed and is holding for now. Closing the valve has shut off gas service to Vectren customers east of Third Street between Main and Walnut. This affects approximately 25 gas customers. Vectren is working to engineer temporary piping around the broken valve but anticipates gas service will be interrupted through this afternoon. Repairs may require shutting off gas service to a larger area of town including areas north of Main Street that will affect an additional 15 customers. When repairs are completed, Vectren crews will restore service and relight home and business appliances as quickly as possible. Please call Vectren Energy Delivery at 1-800-227-1376 with questions and to arrange relighting of appliances. Testing of the affected homes have found no lingering gas concentrations and are now safe. This has allowed power to be restored to the area. South Third Street will remain closed until Vectren completes repairs. All other streets have been reopened. The Centerville Fire Station located at 414 South Morton Avenue will be on call as a warming station if needed. Please call Dennis Spears at 765-967-0028 if you need to warm up.
