Centre has withdrawn from financing welfare schemes like MGNREGA, Indira Awas Yojna, Mid Day Meal etc. Burden lies with the states, who cant afford this. The spending from these schemes was a direct addition to spending of poorest of poor people. Basically the government has unleashed a process of mass income deflation in what is looking like a year of serious drought. I wont be surprised if the deflation in demand leads to some reduction in inflation as well. The bought-over media would most likely ignore the side-effects of such policies which might graduate from rampant malnutrition to widespread and cruel hunger! And all this would be celebrated, glorified and justified by commission agents masquerading as Economists. #UnionBudget
