Certifications for Your Business & 8(a) Application Workshop - Riverside, California The Riverside Workforce Development Center hosted the IE Small Business Development Center “Certifications for Your Business & 8(a) Application” workshop on Wednesday, March 19, 2014. The first part of the workshop was presented by Karla Gonzalez, a SBDC Business Consultant, who discussed the various types of business certifications that are available for Woman, Minority, Veteran, Service Disabled Veteran, and Small Business Owners who are interested in doing business with the State of California, Utilities, and the Private Sector. Karla also provided information regarding the services provided by the Inland Empire SBDC. The second part of the workshop was presented by the Small Business Administration. Michael Schwarz, with the SBA, provided attendees with information regarding the eligibility requirements and process on applying for 8(a) certification. Michael also provided information regarding the WOSB and the EDWOSB programs that are available to women owned businesses. Sandra Anguiano, also with the SBA, discussed the eligibility requirements and process for the HUBZone Certification.
