Champions Trophy Update The 12s took on Palm Beach in their quarter final this morning and went in at half time a goal down. The second half however produced some scintillating football and the youngsters equalised and had their chances to finish the game off. However it was still 1-1 at the end of normal time and with no extra time allowed, straight into penalties. Sadly the lads lost 4-3 in the shoot-out and obviously were extremely disappointed. However their football and understanding of parts the game has come a long way this week, and if taken in the context of development, we can truly say they have flourished and blossomed in so many ways. Tournament football offers so many variables and challenges and those youngsters stood up this week and we are truly proud of their efforts this week. Well done lads. The 13s had their quarter final too this morning and faced Modbury FC and ran out 2-1 winners. This meant they had their semi-final this afternoon where they faced the NPL side from Palm Beach. The lads took hold of the game early, producing some really good football to take a 2-0 lead. In the second half they extended their lead to 3-0 and saw the game out. A great performance by a really good squad of players who applied themselves to the tasks at hand. Their final is tomorrow morning at 9.20 am. Well done 13s on a result well deserved. The 18s had their semi-final tonight and played Olympic FC - a team they had already beaten in the tournament quite convincingly. Unfortunately on this occasion they suffered their first loss of the tournament to the Brisbane side, going down 1-0. But well done lads on a great tournament. As to tomorrows final - If you can get down to support the 13s please do so. The support has been great across ALL squads this week and Im sure the lads would appreciate your attendance.
