Heres an excellent report he sent from THE BATTLEGROUND Today Rahul Gandhi was in Varanasi, on home turf of his main rival Narendra Modi, for the proposed road show as an answer to his rally in Amethi. A 12 km long road show was planned which covered maximum important parts of the city. It started at Gol Gadda and ended at Benares Hindu university. His rally was planned very carefully and managed in very strict manner in order to avoid any flop show of congress strength in Varanasi. Rally route was carefully designed in order to cover all Muslim areas for which all non BJP parties are fighting for votes. The rally progressed through narrow lanes and squares of Varanasi. But if someone compares it with the road show done by Modi after his rally in Rohaniya with this one then it will be flop show for them. Ajay Rai tried his best to have a enormously big rally but at the end of the day this is going to turn back on him only. This rally was planned by Gulam Navi Azad and attended by many star campaigners of congress in Uttar Pradesh like Raj Babbar, Nagama, Manish Tiwari and others. At the same time Arvind Kejariwal also performed road show to show his strength to win the elections. Akhilesh Yadav was also here for the road show and wooed Muslim voters. Some of political Pandits are putting theory of strategic voting by Muslim community against BJP candidate Narendra Modi. While yesterdays Mayavatis speech, today Rahul Gandhi, Arvind Kejariwal and Akhilesh Yadav rallying at the same time in Varanasi supports the theory of vote division. But people of Varanasi were welcoming everyone who was coming to visit them.
