Change is in the air!! Guernsey’s first Disability and Inclusion Strategy was published on Friday and will be debated by the States of Guernsey (our island government) on Wednesday Nov 27th 2013. To view the strategy please visit the Guernsey Disability Alliance page where you can also see the response made by the GDA. Disabled islanders and their families and friends are invited to an open meeting where The Chief Minister, Deputy Peter Harwood, and the Chair of the Social Policy Group, Deputy Jonathan Le Tocq, will explain what proposals in the Strategy mean for Guernsey. The meeting is for all disabled people, plus family members and friends who support a disabled person. You don’t have to be a member of the Guernsey Disability Alliance and “disabled people” doesn’t just mean those with mobility or sight or hearing impairments. You might have a learning or communication difficulty, a mental health issue, a long-term illness like lung disease… The Ministers will explain what Guernsey’s proposed new Disability and Inclusion Strategy means for disabled people and for their families and friends – and for everyone else in Guernsey. They will be happy to take questions. Monday 21st October 2013 from 7pm to 9pm at Le Murier School (at Baubigny, next to St Sampson’s High) It would be fantastic if there is a huge turnout to listen and question the ministers - we hope to see as many of you as possible there.
