Change of ownership at Ortonville Independent Kaercher Publications, Inc. the corporation which owns The Ortonville Independent, has officially changed hands. James D. Kaercher sold his shares of the corporation to his daughter Suzette Kaercher-Blake effective May 22, 2013. The Ortonville Independent has been in the Kaercher family since 1920. Kaercher-Blake will be the fourth generation in her family to operate the business. Jim plans to continue writing his Odds ‘n Ends column and will serve as consultant to the firm. Sue will be the managing editor and will serve as co-publisher with her husband Phil Blake, operations manager. They plan to hold a grand opening and open house for the public at their new printing plant on Highway 75 in Ortonville later this summer.
