Change: the Only Constant. As we move unavoidably forward, Ive always found it useful, or interesting, to consider where weve been. On the L, a great image of a Miami of the early1920s. A glance at the photo reveals signage pitching no fewer than four developments (only one of which would be still be generally recognized as a community today). The very young city was virtually ablaze with the glowing heat of a land boom so utterly crazed, epic, and intense, that it has quite arguably never been equaled, anywhere in the world, before or since. For a number of reasons, it was off the charts. The boom from which were even now trying to shake our collective hangover was, in comparison, a hiccup.
