Changes in Police Response Go Into Effect October 1st The Corpus Christi Police Department begins the alternative response to minor vehicle crashes, barking dogs, and unruly children calls for service on October 1, 2013. Corpus Christi Police will have an alternate response to vehicle crashes in which there is no injury that requires ambulance transport and were involved vehicles can be driven away from the scene. Officers will respond to the accident to determine severity of the crash. Drivers will be responsible to complete and submit a Texas Department of Transportation Form CR2 (Official State Form). The form can be accessed online at txdot.gov/driver/laws/crash-reports.html. Citations will be written for regulatory violations, such as, no driver’s license, expired registration, expired inspection. The Corpus Christi Police encourages discussion among neighbors about problems with barking dogs. Talk to your neighbors about the problem. If that doesn’t work then document the incident, video tape it, speak to your neighbors about assisting you in making the complaints. Anyone can fill out a “Nuisance Complaint” form found on the City website cctexas/government/city-ttorney/prosecutors-office/forms/index. The City Prosecutor’s Office will send out a letter of notice to explain the nuisance on the first offense. A person who would like to file criminal charges for a second offense must make a formal complaint at the City Prosecutor’s Office. Corpus Christi Police Officers will no longer respond to calls for “unruly children.” Parents should call their respective schools’ attendance officers to respond to children who refuse to attend school.
