Changing the church now! We have the scriptures which historically, takes us through Jesus’ joy and sorrow, His trials and tribulations, his achievements, and His victories, while He walked this earth. We also see where He was challenged to learn obedience, and if we look at scripture closely, we can actually watch Jesus, learning and operating more fully in love. In our modern age, we have movie after movie depicting His life, some are rather corny, and some are not even close to being scripturally accurate, while others are really great. Yet, with all this available, it is amazing how many people despite the modern media and printing capacity of our age, still think of Jesus as the cutesy little baby in the manger and have absolutely no honor, no fear and no respect for Him. There seems to be a fad happening in our time… people love being part of a group known as ‘haters’. They show disrespect to everyone, while at the same time they demand respect, often from the very same people they are hating on! However, they don’t want you calling them a hater, and if you do call them a hater, they’ll deny it. Here’s the reality… I see on facebook, people who claim to be Christians cussing people out, posting pictures of themselves flipping the camera off, so it looks like they are flipping the viewer off. That is ‘hating’. Scripture says there is no place in the Kingdom for ‘haters’. We are called to love and build eachother up in Christ. How about you… have you been ‘hated’ on? Do you like being disrespected? How long do you put up with being disrespected before you take some type of action? I know I don’t like being disrespected. If a person disrespects me, I distance myself from that person or group. Yahweh doesn‘t like being disrespected either. There is coming a day, when Jesus has decided He will be done with being disrespected and He is going to call us, everyone, including people who claim to be believers into account for the condition of our hearts and our actions. Is that fair? I would say, yes. God has given us 1,000’s of years to get the condition of our hearts right as a creation, He then sent His Son to us and gave us a couple more thousand years. It is time for us (the church) to get it right. Would you agree? At the time of creation, we started in the world at large. But every journey starts with the first step. God knew we would have to work our way up to mastering the world, so He put (planted) us in a beautiful garden. The Garden was named Eden. That garden was considered a paradise of types, and our job was to tend and keep it, while slowly expanding its borders, just like in the prayer of Jabez. In this way, we would eventually overcome and subdue the earth in a responsible manner. However, our original great great gr… (well you get it) grandparents rebelled against God and became a stench in His nostrils. He was forced to expel us from the Garden. The garden stopped expanding, and our subduing the earth took on a chaotic tone, far from the harmonious subduing we were originally commissioned to perform. Yahweh gave mankind authority over the earth before He even created us. Let’s look at what He says in Genesis 1:26… “God said, Let Us [Father, Son, and Holy Spirit] make mankind in Our image, after Our likeness, and let them have complete authority over the fish of the sea, the birds of the air, the [tame] beasts, and over all of the earth, and over everything that creeps upon the earth.” Authority starts with God, and that is where our allegiance should start. We, as Christians, always say the mantra, that God must be first, but few of us actually make God first. What can we do to change that? We must simply start with the first step… one step at a time. Start our everyday asking him one time, what do you want me to today right now? As the time progresses make it two times a day and so on. As you get to know god’s character you will start changing your questions to simply having a conversation with Him… that’s when it gets truly awesome! For many of us thoug, we may play Christianity for an hour or two a week and believe we are good to go. But are we? Christianity is not as easy as a lot of preachers make it out to be. Christianity has a price. We’ve made a vow, and God is big on us keeping our word and paying our vows! Jesus said to count the cost before we followed Him. He said that if we announced we were going to follow Him and then turned back, it would be worse for us than if we never committed. Luke 14:26-35 says if He is not first in our lives… we cannot be His disciple. He wants us to be sold out… or souled out. Totally committed. Is time for God to take His hand off the church? and let the torturers start sifting us? Will he step back from the stench of a money hungry business, or has He already? Yahweh will never turn his back on the church completely just as He hasn’t Israel. We will always find grace… the remnant will… but we must still pay the price of reaping what we’ve sown. It is time for us, as the church, to change what we are sowing. I don’t know about you but I don’t like what the church is reaping. I want to see the people of the church healed and walking in power and of like mind, placing the kingdom first! Is that what you are seeing? I’m not… and so I choose to start changing the church at the place I have the most influence… me! If we don’t like what we are reaping we must change what we are sowing. Instead of judgment and hate… let’s learn to start sowing Love and Justness. We can change the world, if we decide to learn how to love right! And it all starts in our own house! We can do it!
