Chapter 1: As I sit there, staring off into the abyss, I feel the rush coming. My eyes begin to feel like anchors in the sea. I am only in control of them for a second, when they start to roll back as if they want to witness my brain being stimulated by the drug that courses through my thin, frail body. I see black and then I see light. My eyes cannot stay open, my head cannot stay still, my body cannot move. I am paralyzed by the high. All I can hear is a siren roaring in my head; it’s as if a propeller under water pumps waves into my ears. This is exactly what I live for, this moment right here, when nothing else concerns me but the rush of the high. I can feel every stress, every worry, every weight lifted off my shoulders for that short intimate moment between me and that needle. Unfortunately the high only last so long, until the silence is broken by the music of the world around me. Just as fast as I feel the heroin run through my veins, I open my eyes. I look down to my arm to see the scars that remain from the years of hell I put myself through. I untie the elastic band around my skeletal bicep and lean against the wall and sit with my head in my knees, until I hear this violent pounding on my front door...(to be continued) The beginning of the book Im Writing. I wanted to share it with you guys as addiction is a very serious and deadly disease. This book will follow a woman who struggles with life, addiction, love, happiness and recovery.
