Chapter 18 Rose’s Life Rose was walking down a crowded market bumping into the people along the way. Then she noticed a bright colourful poster hanging on the wall. It read puppet competition on the twentieth of October over at the hall; the winner would win one hundred thousand pounds. Rose looked down knowing she will never be able to enter the competition because she doesn’t have any puppets. Then a sound echoed from behind, it sounded like rattling bones clattering together. Rose sharply turned to find two puppets. A young boy with blond spiky hair and blue bulgy eyes glaring towards Rose and the other one was a bird that looked like a sparrow. Rose knew she had no money to pay for the puppets, so she turned around and started to walk away but then the noise came again. Maybe the puppets are for her in the first place. Rose quickly hurried over towards the stall to find out how much they are. Rose asked the old man about the puppets. The old man looked down to find a child with puppy eyes begging for the puppets. The old man was such a softy that he handed the puppets over to Rose for free. Rose clutched the puppets tightly against her chest. She felt the puppets move wrapping their arms around her. Rose knew this is her magical moment. Rose took the puppets back home, she lives inside a cottage with a messenger because her parents passed away and I will tell you how. One day Rose’s mother placed Rose inside a baby cot and sang Rose a lullaby to send her to sleep. There was a knock at the door, so the father went over to answer. It was pitch black and there in front stood a person with black armour and in his hand was a glittery wand. The father shouted up stairs warning Rose’s mother. The person stepped into the living room to fully reveal himself. It was the Dark Demon. The Demon pointed the wand at her father and swished the wand side to side within the air. The Dark Demon flicked out a spark that flung Rose’s father into a pile of timber that was ready to be placed in the fire. Rose’s father picked himself up off the floor but the Dark Demon shot out another spark that killed her father. The Demon then made its way up stairs; the mother placed a chair under the handle making sure that it couldn’t be opened. The Demon tried the door, the door knob rattled and shook but the Demon still couldn’t budge it. The mother thought that the Dark Demon had gone but then a mighty boom flung the door off its hinges. The mother dropped to her knees and begged for her life. The Demon breathed heavily and shocked her with the power of the wand. Rose’s mother dropped to the floor with a thump. The Dark Demon looked around spotting a baby cot in the far distance, the Demon walked over towards it. The Dark Demon reached towards the pink blankets and forced them off but underneath was nothing. The Demon screeched out loud then made his way back outside taking flight on Draco. Rose was found inside a basket by a messenger, who was just passing by when he heard her call. The messenger took her back to a town called Rosemary. This is where Rose lived for the last ten years. When Rose took the puppets back, Rose began playing with them, trying to see what she could do. The messenger watched her carefully, while he sorted out letters into the right places. Rose trained day and night making the puppets limbs’ move. Soon she managed to make them do lots of stuff. She made clothes for the boy puppet and called him Braxton. She then turned to face the bird and stared into the bird’s sharp eyes. “I call you Sparrow.” When Rose went to bed she kept on dreaming about the Dark Demon killing her mother. The next day she told the messenger about it and told him that she wants to get revenge for what the Demon had caused. The messenger told her to look after herself, while she travelled. Rose grabbed her puppets and then sets off on her journey. Through the months she had beaten lots of opponents such as warriors, mages and other puppeteers but they didn’t make Rose use Braxton and Sparrow’s secret power but this time she had found the right person and that person is Jasmine. Rose had gone through a tragic life, now she wants to find the Dark Demon to gain her revenge. What is Braxton’s and Sparrow’s secret power and what will the Pandora Team do to defeat Rose the puppeteer?
