He wore black robes and sandals on his feet. “Your eminence,” the man stated to an older man sitting at a desk lost in the pages of an old leather-bound book. “Yes Father Gregorio,” the cardinal replied. “What is it?” “It has happened, your eminence,” Father Gregorio answered. “Just as we have feared for over five hundred years.” “What are you saying Gregorio?” the cardinal asked. “The Covenant of Reason,” Father Gregorio replied. “It is under attack, the eruption of Mt. St. Helens in the United States, has signaled it. And some of our agents believe that the Brotherhood of Olympus has been formed anew.” “This cannot be?” the cardinal stated, as he closed the thick book. “The Brotherhood of Olympus was extinguished by order of the Pope, in 1469, Gregorio. They hold no charter with the papacy, and are considered heretics before the eyes of God.” Father Gregorio nodded. “Alert the Hospitallers,” the cardinal decreed. “Let’s see what information we can recover, before we bring this matter up to the Pope. Keep me informed of anything they discover. I do not want any information coming in, to be viewed as to trivial for me to see.” “Yes, your eminence,” Father Gregorio replied with a bow. “Gregorio,” the cardinal stated with a scowl. “I’m not sure which news disturbs me more, the assault on the Covenant that has kept otherworldlies from our world for so long, or the existence of the Brotherhood of Olympus.”
