Chapter I Asalya quietly tip toed through her sleeping little ones. She tried to get to the drawer but there was a crib in middle of the room, and just as she entered, she collided straight into the crib. Suddenly Gili started wailing, which led to a chain of sobbing boys, whose ceaseless crying did nothing to prevent the next few moments. The phone started ringing. The doorbell started buzzing. It was as if there was a domino effect which led to only one thing worse than the next. · * * Throughout the next afternoon, when the children went to play. Asalya was sitting in her dinning room, when the phone rang. She picked up the receiver and asked “Who is it?” “Its me Nadav!” “Oh!” said Asalya “Yes?” “So its like this” whispered Nadav. A friend of mine recently bought five tickets for a wonderful cruise which he planned taking his family on. But to his surprise, his wife gave birth two months early. So he asked me if I wanted them, and I said Yes.” “Oh” said Asalya. “That was really nice of him. I’m-I’m just flabbergasted.” She exclaimed. I want to surprise the kids, so don’t tell them anything.” “Alright.” Said Asalya. She put down the phone and said: We are going on a CRUISE a real beautiful cruise. Its Unfathomable. Just then Gili, Boaz, and Benayahu walked through the door. “Anything new, ma?” asked Gili. “No” said Asalya. Obviously hiding something from them. Just over an hour later, Nadav walked through the door. “Everybody, come listen to this surprise. We’re all going on a Cruise. “What?! Said Boaz in disbelief. “Don’t just stand there. We’ve got lots of packing to do. It was an early Sunday morning as they made their way to pier 13, of New York. The sun’s rays shining on the beautiful deep sea. The sand swept up as the wind brawled across the pier. People were walking on the boardwalk and were marveling at the frequency of the tidal waves. In the far distance somebody can make out a large ship, (Only the size of a cigar), Well into its maiden voyage. * * * For the people on the ship, it was like heaven. They were in middle of the vast ocean, and the waves were rocking the ship up and down. “Oh what a beautiful day it is” said Benayahu. “Yes it is” said Boaz, and off to bed they went. There was a strange calmness in the sea. The calm before the storm. There was a huge crash and a big jerk. The entire Lod family awoke with a start. Suddenly they heard a voice come over the loudspeakers: “We have a big problem, the mighty waves are crashing down and has spread throughout the ship. We are seeing what we can do about it so everybody stay calm, we have the situation under contr- EVERYBODY PANIC. GET TO YOUR NEAREST LIFEJACKET AND GO TO THE LIFEBOATS STATION AT ONCE!” Gili, Boaz, Benayahu, and their parents all donned life jackets and went to the lifeboats. As they approached, the boat started to tip sideway. Nadav, the children’s father shouted to hold on to the railing, and run into one of the lifeboats. They all did. As they were lowering the lifeboat, the whole lifeboat shifted to its side with violent thrust into the turbulent sea below. * * * Benayahu opened his eyes, looked around and Bam! His head fell straight into a big boulder in middle of the ocean. After some time, he awakened. Hours passed, but to Benayahu it seemed like eternity. His head was pounding with an awful headache. He tried to swim, but he saw that he was unable to, for pain wracked every part of his body. Suddenly, he spotted a small waterlogged piece of metal. He swam to it and got on. He drifted further and further out to sea, and fell asleep. He was awakened by the sound of something in the near distance. He squinted his eyes for a better look, and saw that it was a small boat. “Help! I’m stranded here, HELP!” He cried. But the boat just continued away. Then as if to answer to his cries, it turned around and headed straight for his direction. As it got closer, Benayahu began feeling nervous of it. The ship pulled alongside and he was hauled up onto the boat. Suddenly he felt a strong grip on his right shoulder. He is blindfolded and taken into a dark room. He feels the blindfold being taken off and looks up to find a giant of a man. The tall man growled at him and said: “What have we here, a fat fish?” “No, Robertine Said Antonio. “How about a small shark!” “Shall we take him to our leader?” asked Robertine. “Yes” Said Antonio. They dragged poor Benayahu to a large beautiful room. Beautified by stunning rugs, and priceless paintings. Along the sides hung magnificent drapes, of peachish color. The tables were laden with Gold and Silver vessels, which one could only adore from far. Opposite the door sat a huge man with bulging arms, and a heavy set chin. “Well! What have we here? What is your name?. “M-mm-my na-name is. I forget?!”. Antonio gave him a rather large kick. “What in heaven’s name was that for?”. He boxed Antonio’s ears. “Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words can never harm me!” Exclaimed Benayahu. The large man in the chair was infuriated. “I wa-wanted him to speak up!” said Antonio. Well we use our words around here, not fists. “Look who’s talking!” said Antonio. “He’s our Chief, King of all the pirates, and he says we don’t use our hands.” The Chief looked ready smash him to smithereens. “So back to you little boy. Tell me! How did you manage to buoyant all the way out to this part of the ocean?” “I-I d-don’t know!.” Said Benayahu. “It looks like he has amnesia.” Said the Chief. There was an eerie silence in the room. Thick enough to cut through with a knife. · * * It made International Headlines that Monday morning, and it went something like this: BREAKING NEWS! Huge Ocean liner, has capsized around 3 am today. It was on its maiden voyage, and it has sunken to the very depths. Most everybody survived, that is for except, one unfortunate child who has been missing since last night. His parents are searching near and far, just for any clue to where he may be. They are hoping against hope, that their beloved son come back to them. Name: Benayahu Lod. · * * Inside they Lod home, chaos reigned. Everybody was running about, trying to find clues to whereas Benayahu may be. “Why is this happening to us?!” asked Asalya as she wiped her tearstained face. “This is heavens will, and we must accept it with love.” Said Nadav as he sobbed quietly to himself. “You are right!” said Asalya. She tried to regain her composure, but couldn’t bring herself to face reality. “What was his fate?!” asked Asalya. It was more a statement, than a question. Chapter II Years passed. Benayahu now aged 17, was as zealous in his piracy than as the Chief himself. One day, he was authoritatively summoned before the Chief. He entered the impressive tall ceilinged bedroom, and saw the Chief deathly pale. The chief sat up in his bed and said: My dear Bernard, you have been a faithful pirate in all your doings. Ever since that first time when we’ve captured you consummating in the ocean. You’ve only brought great prosperity and wealth to this ship. Now as I lay on my deathbed, and I’m about to be demised. I want you to promise me something. “Yes. Whatever it is, I shall comply!” said Bernard. “Promise me, Promise me, that you will faithfully carry out my instructions carefully. “I will! I will!” cried Bernard. “I want you to become Chief of this vessel and Lord of all the pirates, in my place.” Bernard was speechless. His blood rushed to his face as he tried to conceal any signs of excitation that he was feeling. “Yes! I am honored that you chose me, over all the other men on this vessel!” “Well said!” answered the Chief with an obvious look of glee in his eyes. Bernard can hardly control himself by now. Just then the Chief coughed up blood and whispered: “My end is near. I feel myself being removed from this world!” Suddenly, the Chief coughed up one more time, and took on a glassy eyed expression. All the men silently wept to themselves as they took the covers and put it over their beloved Chief’s face. * * * The atmosphere in the Lod home, on this particular cloudy day was a gloomy one. Mrs. Lod was in no mood to face her inquisitive neighbor. There was a pounding knock on the door. Asalya walked to the door opened it and said: “I’m terribly sorry, but I don’t have the potency to argue with you at this moment. Please come back later. She slammed the door shut. The phone rang, she picked up the phone, “Hello!.” “Yes I’m calling from the Kosherica Cruise experience, and we want to know if you would like to buy some ticke-” “Ah! Oh no! NO! We can’t go on a cruise. Heaven’s name no!” screeched Asalya. “I’m sorry if I disturbed anybody.” said the person on the other end. “Its okay. I just don’t think I’m going to buy any tickets at this trice. Wait! Maybe I should buy some?! Okay, can I have four tickets please. Mail them to 623 West 68th St, Manhattan, New York. Thank you! Good bye!” “and Thank you!” said the other end. She hung up. · * * A few weeks later, she received the cruise tickets and began to pack without delay. She started preparing sandwiches for the trip the next day. Her husband walked through the house door and said “I don’t know why you bought these cruise tickets.” as he tossed them on the table. “I thought that maybe if we relived the situation again, then it would take the burden off of us.” Exclaimed Asalya. “I hope you’re right.” Said Nadav. Little did they know what fate had in store for them. Had they only knew. · * * A clandestine meeting was taking place in the hull of the ship. Bernard now the Chief gave out his final instructions. “Over here.” Said Bernard, as he pointed to a certain area on the map. “Is where we stealthily sneak up upon the cruise, and maraud and take all their goods” All the men began making grand preparations for the big theft that would thus take place, that evening. They pulled up anchor, and set sail for the specified spot. · * * On the deck, sat Nadav, Gili, Boaz, and Asalya. It was a beautiful sunset. The waves were rocking the ship, to and fro. It seemed as if the whole world was joyfully taking part in the beauty of G-ds creations. “I’m having a strange feeling about the next few days on this cruise.” Said Asalya. “I mean you feel ill at ease, and I don’t really think we should have came on this cruise in the first place.” Then it started drizzling slightly. It began to pick up and there was a heavy downpour. There were two lookouts standing and watching for any hazardous movement. Suddenly, they spotted a vessel in the distance that crept closer and closer to them. They reluctantly moved towards it. The boat was moving slow at first, but then it picked up speed and raced towards the Cruise. Twenty husky men started climbing up the ladder to the cruise. Their leader following hurriedly behind them. “Attack!” screamed Bernard. And he blew on a trumpet horn. The captain of the cruise ship yelled: “Fight till they end!” with the declaration of a war signal. The people on the cruise ship, fought bravely. Meanwhile , on the other side of the ship, sleeping peacefully, was the Lod family. Suddenly they heard cries over the loudspeakers: “THE SHIP IS UNDER ATTACK BY PIRATES. GO FIND SHELTER IMMEDIATELY.” The entire Lod family awoke with a start. They all headed in the direction of the battle cries. As they approached the Pirates. Their leader looked vaguely familiar. Suddenly, Asalya ran over to their Chief, Bernard. And screamed: “Benayahu. My son! Benayahu! Oh come! Our home is on 623 West 68th St, in New York. Please come.” Just then the Chief fell and swooned. She tried to help him, but before she could get any closer than ten feet, she was shoved to ground and pushed to a nearby table. Thus ended the fateful evening as the ship made its way back to the New York Harbor. · * * This is CNN, Reporting Live! As of now, the FBI has put a one hundred thousand dollar reward, for the head of the top pirate of the Infamous Marilyn ship, who has been attacking yachts, down to the smallest rowboat. Its been unsafe to travel the high seas. I’m Catherine Ballun, and this is CNN News. · * * On the Marilyn, there was a great uproar. The Chief was nowhere to be found. The only clues they have found is that his clothing and wallet have been found lying on the deck. There can only be one possibility, and that was that the Chief has committed Suicide. · * * The Lod family finally got home from their eventful trip. “I told you we shouldn’t have gone on that cruise.” Said Nadav. “I don’t see why you’re being so grouchy about it. Look at least we have found our long lost son, and we know he is hearty and hale.” “Oh sure! Our son is the King of the Pirates.” Said Nadav angrily. “How can you talk like that? I saw with my own eyes, that he was our son.” Exclaimed Asalya. “Well! Anyways, who said he’ll find us.” answered Nadav. “He’ll have to! I screamed our address loud and clear. He’ll come. Just wait and see!” · * * It was three ‘o clock in the morning. Someone pounding on the door. “Open up quickly, open the door!” Asalya came running, the door swung wide open. She felt faint. “NADAV!” she screamed at the top of her lungs. HE IS HERE! OUR SON.” “Nonsense!”. Said Nadav as he walked into the doorway. He froze in his place. “Yes, it really is Benayahu. Oh! BENAYAHU!.” “Yes! It is me, my dear family!” they welcomed him with open arms. Boaz and Gili stumbled sleepily out of their bedrooms and looked at Benayahu as if he was from a different planet. “Is that really Benayahu?” asked Gili. “YES it is!” said Boaz. Asalya quickly hurried to prepare a quick meal for her unexpected guest. “So tell me Benayahu. How did you manage all these years? And then escape?” “Let me first eat, then I’ll explain everything.” Said Benayahu. He ate his mothers scrumptious meal then he started his tale. “Remember when the lifeboat turned sideway. So I fell out, and my head hit a rock. I saw a big metal chair, I got on and drifted out to sea. Pirates got hold of me, I became their Chief, and when I heard you call my name, My memory suddenly came back. I decided to escape and come here to my family. He said smiling.” “Oh, how emotional, inspirational. The FBI decided to forgo charges, on the Tall, Handsome, pirate. And he and his family lived happily ever after.
