If you want to donate for animals, buy dog and cat food and give it directly to the animal shelter. (Money goes into the general fund and we havent set it up yet to go strictly to the shelter). What Im saying is be judicious how you donate your money. The Humane Society of the United States only gives about 1 cent of every dollar to shelter operations. Even the United Way and Red Cross have a pretty well funded operations group, where the Salvation Army has a minimal salary for their CEO. Local groups include the scouts, the youth, the fire department. You can add to the list where you KNOW the majority of the money goes where its needed.
