Charles Charlie Andrew Mehlschau 11/13/1942-06/15/2014 Charles Andrew Mehlschau, 71, of Nipomo, passed away June 15th, 2014 after a courageous battle with cancer, with his loving wife of 44 years, Janice, by his side. Charlie was born Friday, November 13th, 1942, in Arroyo Grande, CA. He was raised on the family farm in Nipomo where he attended local schools and was active in 4-H where he won Grand Champion for his steer project. He went on to Cal Poly San Luis Obispo to obtain his degree in Agriculture Mechanics. In 1968 he met the love of his life, Janice Cordeiro and they married November 22nd, 1969. He also served time in the Army National Guard. Charlie built a home on the family farm where he and Janice raised their family. He was an amazing man who could fix just about anything that broke. His grandson Aj would say Im going to as Papa, he can fix everything. He was happiest puttering around the ranch. If he wasnt in the house, he was most likely out in the shop. Charlie is preceded in death by his parents Andrew & Katie & brother Richard. He leaves behind his wife of 44 years, Janice, his son Andrew and wife Chandra of Nipomo, his son Matthew of Nipomo and daughter Crissy Perris and Husband Josh of Tehachapi. He also leaves behind 2 grandchildren, Sierra Mehlschau and Aj Mehlschau. The Rosary will be recited Wednesday, June 25th at 10 A.M. at St. Josephs Catholic Church in Nipomo, with the Funeral Mass to follow and reception in the church hall. The family asks in lieu of flowers; make donations in Charlies name to Nipomo High School FFA. He believed in the future of Agriculture and this would be a great way to honor our husband, dad and papa.
