Chasing the Dragon We as human beings are born Dragon Chasers. We search out enjoyable feelings and situations and keep going after it. We all have the innate ability to change course for better or worse. The term “Chasing the Dragon simply means that one is searching for that elusive first high feeling that never comes. It just keeps dragging you deeper and deeper into the throes of addictions that cross many boards. We all have our addictive behaviors and others that creep out along the way such as OCD and co-dependent relationships. The intensity of each determines the tics and nuances of a personality. Whether good or bad, it becomes who we are and embodies our emotional state. When you start to realize that a balanced diet and physical fitness not only make you look and feel AMAZING; it also stops the desire of finding that elusive dragon. It gives you perspective on the bigger picture of whats important in life. The technique lets you start to focus on goals that have always been important, though you could never find time, or just kept procrastinating until you forgot about your goals all together. The Dragon brings us down and keeps us from evolving as human beings. The negative connotations are true with addictive behaviors and with balanced diet and enjoying a physically fit lifestyle, you can control many of these negative behaviors before they even start. Todays Dish: Roasted Halibut, Guava & Tamarind Glazed Summer Veggies, Fried Plantains, Local Peaches, and Coconut Flakes Calories: 615 Cost: $9.25 (Halibut is Expensive) Total time: 1 hour 15 minutes Rating: 5 out of 5 (Amazing) Even though the fish dried out just a touch while I was taking photographs, the flavors involved were incredible!!! There were Southeast Asian/Indian influences that worked superb together. The signature of the sweet Guava juice and the slight sweet-tart of the Tamarind paired excellently with the other flavors in the dish. It highlighted the slightly sweet natural flavors of the Halibut and brought the whole dish to the forefront with bold, crisp flavors that didnt get overwhelmed by too much complexity. I’m really glad I decided on experimenting outside the box with the Indian influence Heres the components: Halibut (4-5 oz filet) Fingerling Potatoes Red Yellow Peppers Fennel Poblano Pepper Plantains (bias slice) Zucchini Yellow Squash Peaches Golden Raisins Kale (chiffonade) Sun-Dried Tomato Garlic Tamarind Paste Guava Juice Coconut Flakes (unsweetened) Chicken Stock Choose Plantains that are semi-ripe or they wont fry up nicely, and if too green theyll just be bitter. You need to lightly pan-fry them and reserve for the finished dish. The fingerling potatoes should be cooked next in the pan, as theyll take more time to cook. The rest of the veggies can be added pretty much as soon as the potatoes start showing some decent browning. Once you sweat out the veg for about 5-10 minutes, add kale, chicken stock, tamarind paste, and Guava Juice. The combined flavors make for a delectable evening dish. I think this is a Dragon Chaser dish. I could keep burning all my resources trying to recreate something that tasted incrediblea in the past, or I could work on improvising and improving it each and every time. Keep evolving with the dish as with your life. Always best to learn from each attempt and look to improve each time. Try to make it better, nicer, cleaner, each time you prepare it and eventually youll become an expert. Its better to anticipate and plan for success rather than wallow in your failures. Gain knowledge and perspective in life. Be pro-active instead of re-active. Plan for success rather than sit on your ass. In other words, EVOLVE. I was genuinely happy with this dish and distinctly remember just shaking my head with the sublime satisfaction that only comes from tasting something so damn good that time just stops time in pure bliss. Not only did everything taste incredible, the dish was packed with nutritious veggies, lean fish, omega 3, good carbs, and protein. It includes everything you would need to optimize your body and mind. If you eat meals like this on a regular basis, fat loss issues youve had in the past will simply melt away. The mind is incredibly powerful, and YOUR INNER FOCUS IS WHAT YOU BECOME FOR BETTER OR FOR WORSE. Be focused on positive things that help other people and in turn, youll help yourself. Be the change you want to see in yourself and the world around you. If you have any questions about the dish or the health benefits of the ingredients, give me a shout. Reach out and grab the good life that is waiting for each and every one of you. Its up to you to take the first step. Foodsource Nutrition Eat Great, Stay Healthy
