Chattagram Maa-O-Shishu Hospital Medical College’ on ‘Public Health Education in Medical Career’ On Tuesday, March 4, 2014 a seminar on ‘Public Health Education in Medical Career’ at the ‘Chattagram Maa-O-Shishu Hospital Medical College’ was organized by one of the pioneers in public health in private sector in Bangladesh “State University of Bangladesh (SUB)” with Dr Nawzia Yasmin, Associate Professor & Head, Department of Public Health, SUB in the chair. Prof. A.S.M. Fazlul Karim, President, Executive Committee, Chattagram Maa-O-Shishu Hospital Medical College, Major General (Rtd.) Dr. M. Shahjahan, Treasurer, State University of Bangladesh and Mr. Md. Rezaul Karim, General Secretary, Chattagram Maa-O-Shishu Hospital Medical College graced the program as Chief Guest and Special Guests respectively. Professor Dr. Harun-Ar-Rashid, Director, Research and International Collaboration, SUB delivered the keynote paper in this seminar. Dr. Md. Nurul Haque Director (Admin.) ‘Chattagram Maa-O-Shishu Hospital’ facilitated the Seminar. Prof Harun in his keynote paper emphasized that Public Health deals with the population and health but Clinical Medicine deals with individual and their sickness, so public health must be considered as most important. Participants also mentioned that despite considerable progress achieved in health sector, higher incidences of communicable and non-communicable diseases is still a concern for Bangladesh. Imparting knowledge on public health, sharing of experience and best practice may serve as a qualitative improvement in the health sector of this country. On this perspective public health deserves greater attention of qualified health professionals in developing their career.
