~Check it out - Its almost BluesFest time!!!!~ August 5, 2014 OSU fans have Texas-sized entertainment options for Cowboys Classic BEDFORD, Texas — When OSU fans roll into Dallas/Fort Worth for the Cowboy’s Classic Labor Day Weekend, they’ll find more than gridiron glory to keep them entertained. Just nine miles north of AT&T Stadium, premier blues artists Robert Cray, Shemekia Copeland and 17 other bands will be playing the 2014 Bedford Blues and BBQ Festival Aug. 29-31. The three-day event in the Dallas/Fort Worth suburb of Bedford, Texas features the legendary blues musicians, and about 70 barbecue teams competing for cash and bragging rights. Football fans can kick things off at night Aug. 29 with the Barron Brothers and Petty Theft, a Tom Petty tribute band. The Friday Night Frenzy kicks off the three-day event with a 6 p.m. show Aug. 29. As a special treat, motorcyclists receive free on-site parking Friday night along with free Friday night admission. The jam-packed festival swings into full gear Saturday afternoon and culminates with an evening lineup featuring R&B greats Joe Louis Walker, Royal Southern Brotherhood and Robert Randolph & the Family Band. Nathan & the Zydeco Cha-Chas heat up Sunday night with their special brand of swamp funk and Louisiana blues. The festival wraps up with performances by sultry Shemekia Copeland and guitar slinger Robert Cray. Hot music isn’t the only thing smoking during the festival. Some 70 barbecue teams from around the world will compete for prize money in a cook-off sanctioned by the Kansas City Barbecue Society. Gates open at 6 p.m., Aug. 29 and 2 p.m. Aug. 30-31. The entire festival is held outdoors across from the Bedford City Hall Complex, 2000 Forest Ridge Dr. The venue features plenty of trees and guests who want even more shade have the option of enjoying the festival in a private party cabana or the party tent. Individual tickets and Festival packages are available online at bedfordbluesfest.
