Check out key decisions from todays council meeting. ccc.govt.nz/thecouncil/newsmedia/mediareleases/2014/201409252.aspx Perhaps of most interest to Halswell people is that they cleared the way for the New Sports Hub at Nga Puna Wai (in Canterbury Park behind Aidanfield) to go out for consultation. Nga Puna Wai is an 86 hectare site of recreational and sporting reserve and agricultural and conservation land beside Canty Agricultural Park in southwest ChCh , Its been identified as the preferred site for the new athletics track to replace the one lost at QE2 and for hockey and tennis and other sports fields . The Council basically does the infrastructure and first lot of facilities (6.7 million) and then works closely with other sports groups and they locate their facilities there so that it becomes a sports hub. Quite a cool thing to have on our back door step! Watch out for the call for submissions in about 10 days.
