Check out my latest budget find. Its nothing spectacular, but I got the receiver for $25 and the tape deck for $20. I was going to leave the tape deck, but it WORKS. It doesnt need belts or anything, so I figured why not. I probably paid too much, but its not a bad-looking setup, and the receiver sounds pretty decent. Tape deck is kind of meh, and except for impressive looks its not very good. Tapes are a bit tinny and muddy at the same time. My Pioneer tape deck is miles better. But with iPod input, it actually sounds pretty good -- at least, using efficient speakers. Not sure what the rated power of the amp is, but with that tiny transformer it cant be much. I will say though, all the bulbs are dirt simple to replace, and the switches even have a nice hole in the end thats exactly the size of a de-oxit straw. Took no time at all to get it cleaned up. I know Soundesign is largely crap, but it looks nice and does play decent with efficient speakers. I know I prob paid too much too, but I dont really care. It was fun to fix it and it will probably end up in my garage.
