Check out our very own Awesome California National Guard Chaplain featured in this Awesome Air National Guard commercial! Chaplain Maj. David Sarmiento shares his passion for serving in our Air National Guard next to those who carry out the Air Force mission on a 24/7 basis. The Air National Guard video highlights our outstanding Air Natioanl Guard Chaplain corps who serve alongside our dedicated Airmen accomplishing the mission on a daily basis. The video is outstanding highlighting the hard work of our chaplains and at the same time showcasing our Air Force mission right alongside our chaplains serving those doing the mission. Back in August of 2014 five Chaplains had the opportunity to be featured in a new ANG Chaplain Corps recruitment commercial which was the first of its kind in many years. With the goal of reaching a qualified pool of Chaplain applicants from all walks of life and all faith groups from various seminaries and faith communities. The majority of the commercial was shot at the in Burlington, Vermont, home of the 158th Green Mountain Boys. What make this event so special is a California Grizzly was featured sharing an inspiring and thought provoking message. Chaplain Maj. David Sarmiento who began his military career as an enlisted Airman in June of 1995 assigned to the 261st Combat Communication Squadron, California Air National Guard, Van Nuys, California, began his Chaplain journey in April 2006, when he entered the Chaplain Candidate Program and later that same year attended Commissioned Officer Training School located at Maxwell Air Force Base, Alabama. Upon completion of the Chaplain Candidate Program, Sarmiento was reappointed a Chaplain in the Air National Guard, assigned to the 163rd Reconnaissance Wing, March Air Reserve Base, California 2009. Incredibly Ch. Sarmiento was honored to be the 2010 Chaplain of Year – Samuel Stone Award recipient for the Air National Guard Chaplain Corps recognized in January 2011 in Washington DC by the then General Craig McKinley the 26th Chief of the National Guard Bureau of the United States.
